The Department of Biomedical, Dental, and Morphological and Functional Imaging Sciences (formally abbreviated to SBOIMorF, but colloquially referred to as BIOMORF) was created in 2015 from the merger of four former departments: the Department of Environmental Sciences, Land Safety, and Food and Health Sciences, the Department of Neurosciences, the Department of Biomedical and Morphological and Functional Imaging Sciences, and part of the Department of Experimental Medical-Surgical, Specialized, and Dental Sciences.
The educational offering is organized into 13 degree programs and numerous postgraduate specialization schools, both in medical and non-medical fields. Several PhD programs are also available.
The Department's headquarters are located on the first floor of Pavilion G ("Biological Tower") of the Gaetano Martino University Hospital Campus. The Department's operational offices are essentially located in the various pavilions of the same Campus and at the Campus of the University of Annunziata.
The Educational Offer is organized into:

The Department of Biomedical, Dental, and Morphological and Functional Imaging Sciences offers postgraduate training through numerous specialization schools, providing further qualifications to many young graduates, enabling them to enter the workforce, both in clinical and surgical fields and in scientific research.
The Department's teaching activities are supervised by a Joint Committee, composed of an equal number of faculty and students. Its primary purpose is to monitor the educational offerings and the quality of teaching, as well as the faculty's student services, thus ensuring the improvement of the Department's teaching services.
The Department's research activity is supported by 148 faculty members from 47 different scientific disciplines; this ensures interdisciplinary research lines and a broad coverage of the scientific landscape, as demonstrated by the broad and diverse scientific production. Their work encompasses both the basic sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Medical Physics, Biochemistry, Chemistry) and the medical-surgical and diagnostic fields (Respiratory System, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Forensic Medicine, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging), thus ensuring intense scientific activity within the Department itself. On this basis, a Scientific Commission has been established within the Department. Regular meetings, during which each Scientific-Disciplinary Sector presents the scientific progress made, allow the heterogeneous scientific community to work synergistically, finding common ground that can advance scientific research.
